Best Industrial Disributor Stocks To Buy Right Now

Lorillard (NYSE: LO  ) will release its quarterly report on Thursday, and until recently, investors had been very optimistic about the company's long-term prospects, bidding the shares up to all-time highs since its 2008 initial public offering. But bad news from the FDA today threatens to put a stop to the growth that Lorillard earnings have seen lately, and shares tumbled as a result.

Lorillard isn't a household name among most consumers, but with cigarette brands like Newport and Kent, most smokers are at least familiar with its products. The tobacco industry in general has had trouble posting solid growth lately, with overall declines in volume as smoking becomes less common in the U.S., but Lorillard has bucked the trend with solid growth in both earnings and revenue. Will the FDA's move reverse the company's fortunes going forward? Let's take an early look at what's been happening with Lorillard over the past quarter and what we're likely to see in its quarterly report.

Goldcorp, Newmont (NEM) or Agnico-Eagle use similar definitions. The important element here is the so-called 'sustaining capital expenditure', which is the capital required to sustain existing production levels. The table below is taken from the Agnico-Eagle presentation referenced above and provides a comparison of company-wide AISC for some of the major gold miners, including Goldcorp, Barrick Gold, Newmont Mining, Yamana Gold (AUY), Randgold (GOLD), Kinross (KGC), Agnico-Eagle Mines, Eldorado Gold (EGO), Goldfields and Centerra (CAGDF.PK). The year ahead should be a great one for the smaller bank stocks. Larger regionals like Huntington Bancorp (HBAN) and Capital Ban Financial (CBF) have made it clear they intend to grow by acquisition in the years ahead. Banks like First Merit (FMER) and First Merchants (FRME) have done deals in the past year and are open to doing more to increase their market share and footprints. This should be the year the floodgates open and we see the first wave of merger activity in small banks.
